Gerald Noble Memorial Coach of the Year

Apr. 05, 2017

The Bantam B division had a huge loss this season, with the sudden and unexpected passing of one of our favourite coaches; Gerald Noble.

It was decided very quickly the MJMHA and his friends would like to honour Gerald annually with a  COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD. Special thanks to Claude Poirier who took on the challenge of building/designing the trophy, and to the companies that sponsored it.

The 2016-17 recipient was a unanimous choice by this board. I put his name forward, stating that he exemplified all that this award is to stand for....a coach that is not so much concerned with winning, but one that stands firm on fair play, equal ice time, developing the weak and the strong alike and looking out for what it best for each and every player he coaches. Following my nomination, there were no other names put forward; which in my opinion, shows just how much respect this coach has earned over the years.

Lee Meili was a good hockey friend of Gerald's and quite honestly I felt it would be a great honour that Gerald would have loved! Lee has decided (after his own health issues this year) that this season would be his last,  so I think it is a great Thank You to a man who has coached many of our children since they were in Novice years ago.

Congratulations Lee, and THANK YOU for your many years of dedication to Moose Jaw Minor Hockey.
